Video

Celebrated within the framework of Alimentaria 2008, the seventh edition of the International Food Forum will present the results of the Study of trends affecting the demands of consumers of the future. The conclusions of this important piece of research, carried out by the Taylor Nelson Sofres (TNS) market information grup for Alimentaria, will be presented by Josep Montserrate, Worldwide Managing Director of TNS Worldpanel, on 11 March 2008 at the Conference Centre of the Fira de Barcelona Montjuic exhibition venue. The Study aims to provide an in-depth look at today's consumer and paint a precise portrait of the demands of consumers in the near future: understand their buying habits, the reasons behind their choices at an establishment and their behaviour when in front of store shelves. The conclusions of this study will be put into practice in the Future Shop.

Consumers in front of store shelves image

From the beginning, the International Food Forum has made great efforts to identify the key elements of consumer habits, emerging targets, lifestyles, communication with consumers etc. At the Forum's seventh edition, Alimentaria has attempted to go even farther, focusing on consumers and their behaviour in a retail environment, in order to answer two key questions: What will the store of the future be like? How will consumers behave in the near future? What are buyers' expectations? Defining the relationship between consumers and the sales establishment, their way of behaving in reaction to store shelves, the reasons why they choose one type of store or another, the factors that influence their purchasing decisions.

Alimentaria believes that discovering these factors will provide companies in the food industry, manufacturing, distribution and trade. with the keys to success, allowing them to find their space on supermarket, hypermarket or small shop shelves in order to reach consumers. The Study will also include information on the purchasing preferences of today's consumers, their reasons for choosing one establishment over another, successful formats abroad, the money available for purchases per household, emerging target groups, shopping roles, technological factors, etc., as a way to lay the foundation for the implementation of the project.
