Alimentaria 2008 revealed the behaviour before the lineal of the buyer of the future

The seventh edition of the International Food Forum presented in the frame of Alimentaria 2008 the results of the study Demands of the buyer of the future. The conclusions of this important work that Alimentaria has entrusted to TNS, appeared in a presentation at the expense of Josep Montserrat, Worlwide Managing Director of TNS Worldpanel on March 11, 2008 in the Conference hall of the enclosure Montjuïc of Fira de Barcelona.The Study developed a complete photography on the current consumer and drew with the maximum precision the demands of the buyer of the future in a nearby term: to know his habits of purchase, his motives of choice of the establishment and his behavior before the linear one. The conclusions had his putting in scene in the Future Shop.   image

The consumer before the lineal one of purchase
From his beginnings, the International Food Forum has dedicated all his efforts in verifying the aspects most related to the habits of consumption, the new emergent targets, the ways of life, etc. In the seventh edition of the Forum, Alimentaria has wanted to go beyond and to centre his attention on the consumer and his behaviour before the retail to raise a double challenge: how will it be the shop of the future?, how will buyer behave in an immediate future? To define the relation between(among) the consumer and the centre of purchase, his way of acting before the lineal one, the reasons for which it will choose a type of establishment or other one, the motives that will influence the decision during the act of the purchase.

Alimentaria thinks that to reveal these keys is an essential work for the success of the companies of the industry of the nourishment that, at the end of the process, they have to find his exit in the lineal ones of the supermarkets, the hiper or the shops to come to the consumer. The Study gathers also all the information brings the available revenue of consumption over of the habits of purchase of the today consumers, the motives of choice of the establishment at present, the formats of success abroad, for the homes, the emergent targets, the roles of purchase, the technological factor, etc. as point of item to develop the project.

The application to the point of sale: Innoval - The Future Shop
Josep Montserrat Worlwide Managing Director of TNS Worldpanel presented the conclusions of the study Demands of the buyer of the future on Tuesday, the 11th of March, 2008. The act relied on the presence of the President of Alimentaria, Josep Lluís Bonet; the General manager of AECOC, Jose Maria Bonmatí, the Managing director of Euromadi, Jaume Rodríguez; the Attached Counsellor to the Presidency of the Group Campofrío, Juan J. Guibellade and the ex-Director general of Mercabarna, Jordi Maymó. In addition, the day of celebration of the Forum was completed by the visit guided to Innoval, space of innovation that gathered more than 400 new products.

The Study
To develop this work of investigation advanced qualitative technologies were in use. More than 80 interviews in depth to future shapers, analysis of 6 millions of record of purchase in the last three years, the behaviour of 16.000 panelists and 8.000 questionnaires on attitudes and opinions of the current buyer.

Some of the principal conclusions to which sound has come near:
- The shops directed to targets specifics will suppose the revolution of the sector of the distribution - The innovation focalized should turn into one of the big bets of the retail
- The new model of client will want to do of the purchase an agreeable experience but senior will despise the thieves of time
- Immigrants, one-family homes (fireplaces) and the targets for category will mark the strategies of segmentation in the maximum space of five years.

Purchase of the study

Where and what will the consumer of the future buy?, how will it be the Distribution of 2012? What role will they play the emergent targets?
