The participation of international companies at Alimentaria continues its upward trend. Alimentaria Exhibition’s organisers predict that 30% of exhibitors at the exhibition - that is, over 1,500 companies - will come from abroad. These figures reflect significant growth which is linked to a strong trend among foreign companies towards increased specialisation. As a result of this sector-related behaviour, foreign participation will increase not only in the International Pavilion but also in all of the trade fair's shows, each of which is focused on a specific industry sector.
Of all the sectors represented, Intercarn will have the largest international presence - nearly 1,000m2 - devoted to exhibiting products from abroad. Other shows with a significant international component include Restaurama, Congelexpo, Intervin and Mundidulce. Reflecting this trend, the International Pavilion will see the number of exhibiting companies increase by 15% - from 500 to 600 - and will expand its exhibition space by 1,000m2 to 8,000m2.
In all, over 17,000m2 out of the more than 130,000m2 of exhibition space at Alimentaria 2008 will be reserved for foreign exhibitors hailing from 70 countries and all five continents.
33,000 foreign visitors
Alimentaria is welcoming more and more foreign visitors. Proof of this fact is that, of the 155,000 professionals who are expected to attend, 33,000 will be foreigners.
