Interpesca is the Alimentaria show where seafood makes its exclusive appearance. Dozens of companies in 2,400m2 of exhibition space, a wide variety of aquaculture products and a complete programme of activities organised by the FROM -an organisation dependent on the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food: such are the attractions of this show.

Interpesca, the show for seafood, aquaculture and farmed fish products, will fill nearly 2,400m2 of exhibition space with the latest industry trends. In this context, aquaculture will play a key role at the 2008 edition. This is one of the fastest growing activities within the world of animal-based food products, registering an average annual worldwide growth of 8.8% per year since 1970.

Fish farms are becoming the only viable solution for meeting the growing global demand for such products. In 1980, only 9% of fish consumed by humans came from aquaculture, whereas in 2006 this number had grown to 43%. Estimates by the FAO (United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation) are that 50% of fish consumption in 2025 will come from this type of farming activity.

Interpesca Conference
The FROM (Fund for the Regulation and Organisation of Fishery and Aquaculture Products) will once again provide special entertainment and educational activities at the exhibition by means of the Interpesca Conference. As a way of continuing to support this sector, this organisation -dependent on the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food- will offer tasting events, conferences and demonstrations focused on the world of fish and seafood. The Interpesca Conference represents an excellent way to get an in-depth view of the current state of the sector, and also helps to show the strong institutional support for this show.
