Alimentaria’s Village will be run by the Massana family, owners of Cal Pere del Maset restaurant in Sant Pau d’Ordal, and will offer a menu based on the basic ingredients of the Mediterranean diet and of traditional Catalan cuisine, under the direction of the Massana family’s latest rising star, Pere Massana, who has devoted himself to the restaurant business since 1969. Cal Pere del Maset first opened its doors in 1969, under the management of Pere Massana and Carme Ràfols – Pere’s grandparents – as a guesthouse in Sant Pau d’Ordal. Joan and Anna followed in their footsteps and Pere, who has grown up in the kitchen, has dared to bring innovation and originality to the restaurant’s classic flavours, introducing new trends within the framework of a gastronomic tradition deeply rooted in the culture of Catalonia.

As could be expected, Alimentaria’s Village is one of the stars of the exhibition. Located in 350m2 and sporting an avant-garde yet intimate décor, Alimentaria’s Village represents an ideal spot for tasting and meeting one another, for those who wish both to work and do business and to enjoy Alimentaria at the same time. A simple black and white exterior and a warm and welcoming interior with touches of orange make up a perfect atmosphere for indulging in the new Mediterranean cuisine created by Pere Massana.

For the first time, at Alimentaria 2008 the Alimentaria dinner will be held on 11 March in this unparalleled location. The dinner will include the awards ceremony for the Innoval Awards, representing Alimentaria 2008’s strong show of support for innovation.
