Alimentaria 2010, more international than ever

Alimentaria is the most important international food and beverages exhibition in Spain and one of the leading international events of this type. Its eighteenth edition was held 22-26 March 2010 at Fira de Barcelona. The show presented the latest products from the international food and beverage industry, distribution channels and consumer tastes.

Alimentaria 2010 brought together 4,000 leading food and beverage manufacturers and distributors, and more than 140,000 professional buyers from more than 155 countries attended. Once again, Alimentaria was the international economic stage for the food and beverage industry and trade.

The event is committed to its successful and pioneering structure, which divides the exhibition space into sectors: 13 shows organised by product family. In addition, Alimentaria offered an extensive programme of innovation- and research-related activities. 85% of the Spanish food and beverage industry attended the event, around 94,500 m2 dedicated to exhibition space and associated activities.


Product Areas

Alimentaria has succeeded in combining being a macro exhibition with the utmost specialisation of its exhibition space, thanks largely to its dedicated shows, which make it easier for professionals to visit and do business. The entire food and beverage industry is represented in Alimentaria 2010’s thirteen product shows and the two pavilions organised by place of origin.


Numerous activities

The exhibition presented an extensive programme of associated activities, enabling visitors to enjoy this enormous variety: conferences and scientific activities which allow us to explore trends in the sector, new market opportunities and new business opportunities. Alimentaria 2010 included the 8th International Food Forum, the 8th International Congress on the Mediterranean Diet, Innoval and the various International Projects.

In addition, Alimentaria presented entertainment and educational activities with top experts in each area, as well as Spain, the Country of 100 Cheeses; Taste&Flavours of Spain (Vinorum, Spain, Land of Oils and The Spain of Cured Iberian Meat Products); BCN Vanguardia, the Barcelona International Gastronomy Conference, Chef of the Year Competition, etc.
