The institutional Portuguese presence in the fair increases his footages
Portugal will take part for the first time in Alimentaria grouped under the umbrella of Portugal Foods, a clear example of the interest of the public sector for promoting the competitiveness of the companies of the food-processing sector increasing his technological index.
In each new edition the number of international participants increases substantially. In 2012 the institutional stands will receive special importance, Portugal and Germany will increase his footages and the number of represented companies.
400m2 of Multiproducto they will be dedicated to Portuguese companies, which for years come to Alimentaria but this year they have bet in a joint way for Alimentaria.
Intervin will have also the out-standing presence of Portuguese products. The Instituto Dos Vinhos do Douro e Porto, the public Portuguese institute that tries to protect and to announce the wines of the Douro and Porto; almost it will duplicate his footage in this edition (it will happen of 56m2 in 2010 to 99m2 in 2012).
Other halls like Mundidulce or Expoconser will have also Portuguese presence, as well as Restaurama, that this year adopts more importance than never with an international representation of 36 % with more than 300 companies that come to the exhibition.
It is foreseen that the Portuguese presence in Alimentaria grows with regard to the previous editions. Of 30 Portuguese companies that came the past edition to Alimentaria, some of them have been confirmed as Casa DA Prisca, Diatosta, Confiteria Confiteria Carlos Gonçalvez and Constantinos.
International expansion, an important prop for Alimentaria
Alimentaria 2012 will once again be the trade show which attracts the industry's major global operators. With an anticipated 4,000 companies – one third of them from abroad – and 140,000 buyers – 25% international – the show will confirm its position as an international hub for business transactions. This is what the show's exhibitors indicated in satisfaction surveys collected by Alimentaria’s organisers at the last edition of the show, with over 60% stating their intention to expand into the international market before too long. This is the aim of the International Projects which form part of the show. These feature reverse trade missions of buyers; co-operation, distribution, innovation and food technology conferences; and seminars. As a whole, these bring about more than 8,000 business meetings which benefit the international expansion of agri-food companies.
